From solar to community wind turbines, people are coming together with ambitious plans that will
Create a large income for communities
Create jobs and local enterprise
Provide a locally generated, clean source of energy to the grid
Help tackle climate change
Help energy security
BUT despite committing to support community energy as a key part of the Big Society the government has recently announced three changes in policy that will make it much harder to happen.
Unless these policy changes are refined or they introduce alternative measures many of these community projects
may have to be abandoned.
UPDATE: Our campaign is working! The draft legislation reflects our call to ensure community energy
social enterprises can still access financial support. We need to make sure this isnt changed before
september when it becomes law.
We need to send the message to Westminster to stop these changes now. WRITE NOW TO YOUR MP!
